Change of idea

Current+Concept+4.jpgAs the developing process of our pervious idea continued as a group we thought that the idea is not very realistic and very far from home, so we came up with a new idea which is inspired by the song Everybody's free to wear sunscreen from Baz Luhrmann. This idea will be linked within our lives and what inspires us.

The single shot creative media production will be a linear narrative showing a timeline from birth till a old age we are considering to continue this into our 5minutes creative media production, we will be including quotes and poems which will inspire our target audience wants they watch it. The target audience for this production will be quite open well from the age of 16+ the reason for this is that young adults can look at how they might be or do in the future and old people will be able to reflect on how they use to live whiles they were young.

The whole production will have an instrumental tune playing in the background which will go with all the inspirations that will be shown in the production.
The timeline will be shot in many different locations which will show how our lives are and what we did, do and will do in the future.
The moral of this creative media production is

- NEED TO WRITE DOWN WHAT WE DID EACH LESSON

Treatment

Our Proposal and Treatment

Our single camera production film is going to be an action short film which will be aimed at an age range of 16 to 30 year olds. This will have a range of shots in order

Our film is going to be based on the presidential campaign in which Obama and Mitt Romney will be participating in through doing their speeches. Therefore we are going to start by creating the first setting of our scene through them saying their speeches followed by one of them getting shot in which a news report will occur only to find out the news reporter is the assassin.

Equipment

Video Camera
Lighting
Microphone

Cast and Crew

Curtis Fletcher
Haris Zulfiqar
Munashe Mukandi
Other characters

Misc En Scene

Within our short film our aim will be to create a image that will go with the sound effects and we would like to ensure that it has a modern look therefore we will use a mixture of dark and colourful colours to convey this. The characters within film will therefore wear modern clothing in which will be formal as this will be a presidential campaign.

We will also use props in helping us to convey the message behind the story and to help us do certain things such as the performance .We will also use effects such as therefore making the overall look of the film professional and adding a good effect to the graphics of the video.

Media Weekly Log

15th November 2012
In the lesson we sat in our production groups to discuss our 1 minute creative media production. We also needed to think about our company name, proposal and make some type of communication to inform other class mates about our idea. The production name we came up with was current concept production. This was because current is what the target audience would like to see today, concept is the idea we would come up with and production because we will be making it.

22nd November 2012

In todays lesson we are going to be creating our storyboard, equipment and budget list, this will benefit us when we need to start filming because it will make it easier for us to know exactly ow the camera should be to make the best shot a look professional.

29th November 2012
In todays lesson we changed our idea, the reason for this was that our pervious ideas was quite far from home and very unrealistic. We wanted to make a single creative media production that relates to us today.
13th December 2012
During this lesson we completed our story board and re-done the mood board and also included a word board, this mood board contain different images about the inspiration and the words are all quotes which will be inspiring. The word board tell us about the way and feeling about life. We also completed our story board to make it easier for when it comes to filming because it will make it easier to know what scene were doing and where the camera needs to be, this will make it look more professional.
10th Januay 2013
During todays lesson we are completing all our pre-production work in order to start filming our creative media production next week. This way we will be on schedule for our filmings and get it complted with editing done on time. This way we can start preparing for out 5minutes creative media product which will be graded.
17th January 2013
In today's media lesson we started our production for our creative media project. We filmed at Swanswell park for the introduction of the right quote and also the production so show what people like at a young age. This is suppose to be used as part of our production, however we will make some changes according to the way the film is  put together.
24th January 2013
In todays lesson we started the editing process of our creative media production, we started putting the company logo, credits, movie title and also the music we are going to be using. We changed the font and size varies times to make sure it is suitable for our target audience and that it reflects the mood of the creative media production itself. This way it is more professional and will be able to get better reviews. We have also looked at changing a few things to make the flow of the production better so that it is easier for the audience to understand.
31st January 2013

Starting Pre-production

Identify Target Audience
The target audience for our Current Concept production is going to be 16 to 40, the reason for this is that its a one minutes production which means that it isn's suitable for a audience who would like to watch a longer production. This is a suitable production for this target audience because it won't be all serious, it would have a good mood to it.

Moral of the story
The message behind the Current Concept production is don't stand with the president of the United States Of America.

Tzventan Todorov Narrative Theory

Well the diagram above shows the theory in a simple way.
Tzventan Torodov was a Franco-Bulgarian structural linguistic philosopher who came up with the idea on how narrative and stories should be structured and gave a way of defining it.
So basically the theory is came across in 1969 which would be related to any film or narrative. He believed that every film or any type of narrative followed the same structure and pattern. So the pattern was the following stages:

  1. Equilibrium (This is basically everything the way it should be, happy etc)
  2. Disequilibrium ( A problem is slowly being introduced and the equilibrium is slowly going)
  3. Acknowledgement (The problem as accrued and there is no equilibrium)
  4. Solving (The problem is being solved and equilibrium is slowly appearing again)
  5. Equilibrium (Something new has started)
So this is what it shown in the graph it can be like a cycle starting with Equilibrium and ending back on Equilibrium.
So this can happen is a lot of movies a series for example:

Task 1

Single Camera Productions- A mode of production where one camera operates at a time and shots are done in the most economically efficient order. So whats the shot has started the camera won't move which means that the actor/ actress must stay in the frame.

Advantages are:
Easy To Record
Less time consuming because they won't need to look at the different complicated shots such as pan.
Its cheaper because they only need one one camera for the whole production.
Its easier to correct any miss take.

Disadvantages are:
It restricted the movement on the actor or actress.
It must stay in the frame.
It takes a long time editing all the shots together.

Sci fi- The Big Bang Theory
  • The have a range of different camera techniques from different angel which means that it can be a single camera production.
  • The lighting used is natural light the reason for this is that it is also a comedy which means there won't be much suspense or dramatic scene as much as a Crime series.
  • Their are many different and a wide range of camera shots from close up, to mid shot to long shot which all go well for this type of genre.
Comedy- Come fly with me
  • The lighting used in the program is mostly natural light however inside the airport they might use a bit of lighting to make it more clear.
  • The camera angles used a wide range of different camera techniques.
  • The use diegestic and Non-diegestic sounds, the is because they have someone talking who you can see and a narrative.

Crime
CSI: Miami (4)

Sound
The sound used are non-diegetic sounds that are included within the scene and it included background music tracks to create emphasis on the situation created and to show a more dramatic or shock event. It includes dramatic music to build suspense and fast music to create excitement in action scenes.

Lighting
The lighting used is darker and mainly back and filler lights. This is because it will create tension and suspense, which is the type of emotion they wish to portray in a crime series.

Camera angles
The camera angles used are close-ups and mid shots to show the emotion of the scene to the audience. As a series with a genre of crime these shots will be done to create that emotion of what has shown in the scene.

Single Stand Narrative
This is when the narrative will be based on one character for the entire movie or series. So its just their point of view.
For example:
Spider man
IronMan
Bruce Almighty

Multi-Stand Narrative
So this will be the opposite of single stand narrative, multi-stand narrative will focus on a wide range of different characters and maybe in some cases different stories. Telling a story from more then one persons point of view or two stories of two different people that will come together and intertwine.
For example:
XMen
Friends
Linear- straight to the point and might follow a simple rule or strategy. For example: Beginning Middle and End.
Non-linear- this can use the narrative starting from the end and showing flash backs and changing the scene and structure that is usually used Beginning Middle and End.
